AI generative models don’t seem to get sizes right yet, so use the following RATIOS instead when creating your prompt.

• 500 x 300mm use 5:3
• 600 x 250mm use 2.4:1
• 600 x 300mm use 2:1
• 600 x 350mm use 1.7:1
• 600 x 400mm use 3:2

(Example prompt beginning for 600 x 300mm magnets: Generate a landscape orientation image with the size ratio of 2:1 …)

CHECK SPELLING AND NUMBERS of the generated artwork. AI models can, and will, get this wrong quite often.

Get the highest quality output possible. Poke around in whatever you’re using to see if you have the option for better quality output. We’ll run your artwork through through some upscaling software, but the better the input, the better the output.

First – KEEP YOUR INFORMATION AS SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE. Magnetic signs aren’t all that big compared to full vehicle signage, so avoid creating a leaflet or brochure.

– Simple and short line of your service or product offering. Reminder, simpler is better. “General Contractor” will do much better than “Offering all building services including brick work, tar, roofing (building and repair), glazing, maintenance, painting, site clearing etc etc etc”.

Rather field a few calls about service enquiries than not having anyone ring because the artwork was too cluttered.

– A very EASY to remember contact point. Avoid long email addresses or Facebook handles. We recommend either a mobile number formatted to 083 123 4567 (Country code strictly if you work across borders) or an easy to remember website (Eg: QuickBuild.ie – consider capitalising each word for legibility). In rare cases you can add “Find us online” or similar. But check if a search for your suggested name does not bring up competitors or similar named companies elsewhere.

– Big bold unadorned lettering. We can’t stress this enough — keep it simple. This isn’t the time to get overly creative. We’re not advocating for simple black text on white, but keep it easy as possible to read.
